Create Amazing Photomontages
Source digitalartsonline »
Nik Ainley shows you how to make a splash, blending two very different images to create this amazing underwater effect, complete with a dissolving figure of a man. This is a great technique for pieces where you want the clothes, not the face, to take centre-stage – for example, it makes an eye-catching fashion shoot. Of course, the beauty of photomontage is that anything is possible – it all depends on your found images and how far your imagination will roam.

Matte Painting using Hybrid Art
Source 3dtotal »
igital creative tools are dynamic and constantly evolving. Recent software and hardware advancements have given rise to the term of hybrid art. This term is also known as 5D art (2D + 3D), and it refers to the disappearing borderline between 2D and 3D art. For the creation of this image for example, I used exclusively what is broadly considered to be a 3D application (Zbrush), but I also did a lots of 2D painting with it, aiming for 5D fusion. The goal of this exercise was to create a matte painting in the fastest and most direct way possible. Since time was an issue, I timed myself to see how fast I could achieve an acceptable result, using hybrid tools.

A Woman Under a Tree
Source 3dtotal »
One day, on my way to work I decided to make a small detour on my way to the subway and took a walk through one of Lisbon’s most charismatic parks. It was a cold February morning, no one was in sight and the sound of morning traffic was subdued by the trees. I was immersed into a natural environment and it almost seemed magical. Suddenly, I passed by some trees that really caught my attention ( image 1 ). They somehow resembled groping hands and with their scale, they looked threatening. I believe it is my love for fantasy that made me see the tree like that and not as mere tree. Several days later I went back and took some photos of these trees and so started the painting “Fresh Meat”.

Instant Photo To Oil Painting Action
Source photoshopessentials »
In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial, we're going to take a photo and make it look like an oil painting, which is a popular and fun thing to do with Photoshop. Problem is, creating the effect requires the use of a few different filters and memorizing the settings for each one, which isn't fun, and it's also a little time consuming, meaning it takes more than five seconds.

Techniques for Technical Illustrations
Source photoshopsupport »
A "Ghosted", "Phantom View", "Transparent", or "See Through" technical illustration is one that renders the exterior skin of an object transparent in order to see the interior workings. A Ghosted illustration will be slightly more time consuming and expensive to create than a Cutaway Illustration. Ghosting an object requires completion of the entire outside AND inside of the subject before the fading or "ghosting" process takes place. The decision to ghost or cutaway a subject is a stylistic one. Although more internal information may be visible in a cutaway version, a ghosted illustration will favor the exterior of the subject which may contain important components, body features, logos, etc.

Shapes and Styles Redux
Source afterglow »
Shine a Light on the Subject. In lighting sometimes you want something to appear as if it’s being lit from a single source. A linear gradient overlay can do this but it gives a uniform look to the object. Simply switching the gradient from linear to radial focuses the light in a particular area. If you’d like the object to look like it’s being lit from a direction, click on the object while the gradient overlay palette is still open. You can move around the gradient focus to your whim. Increasing the scale of the gradient helps the effect as well.

B-movie poster art
Source digitalartsonline »
This spoof movie poster design is a simple but effective way of tackling those graphics challenges where there seem to be too many thoughts to fit in: it enables the designer to combine slogans and other textual elements with the bare bones of a storyline and striking images, all bound up in an iconic format that everybody will recognize. Of course, it doesn’t have to be the classic 1950s B-movie style that you adopt – the entirety of cinematic history is at your disposal. Take your pick from gangster movie, romantic comedy, war film or chick flick. In this tutorial, Mark Mayer shows you how to combine 3D renders with stylized photography, text and smoke to capture all the camp horror of an alien invasion.

Texturing of Old Paper

For one of my projects I had to draw 7 absolutely different old paper textures. During my search of proper paper material I came up to the idea that I would rather just draw it myself rather than to spend all the time looking through library archives.
