Creating Fireballs and Explosions Scene

Adobe Photoshop » Photo Effects » July 29, 2008
Source digitalartsonline »

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to transform a fairly typical road-trip image – with a big blue sky and wide-open spaces – into an apocalyptic battle scene, complete with tanks, guns, parachutists and a hail of incoming missiles. Of course, changing the colour of the sky and pasting in tanks and other elements is the easy bit: things get trickier when it comes to creating the smoke and explosions. Here, Fabio Sasso shows you how to create custom brushes that recreate smoke and fireballs convincingly.

Fantasy light effects in Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop » Photo Effects » July 29, 2008
Source digitalartsonline »

Using Photoshop and Illustrator, it’s possible to create a fantasy scene using brushes and blur effects to their fullest. Fantasy art scenes are usually handled with a liberal sprinkling of Photoshop plug-in fairy dust – but you don’t have to slavishly follow that route. By creating your own brushes in Adobe Illustrator, and using scanned elements with Photoshop, it’s a simple process to create otherworldly scenes that are alive with glow effects and shafts of virtual light. This masterclass takes a standard stock model – a super high-resolution version is included on the cover CD, or you can use your own – and applies layers of light and vector shapes to generate the main image shown left.

create Craters for Spaceart in Photoshop

A Tutorial on how to create Craters for Spaceart in Photoshop and how to apply them to a planet. I tried to make it as comprehensible as possible. It isn't easy writing tutorials and i know that they can be a pain in the royal butt if you get to a point you don't understand. So if you have questions just contact me and i'll be glad to help. I also recommend that you try an touch up your own craters a little more once you have applied them to your planet (which is where this tutorial ends). I recommend adding some custom shadows inside the craters and painting over places you don't think turned out that well. I would have liked to write something on that as well, but then this tutorial would have ended up with far too many steps and pages.

Photo Transfer Edge Effect

Adobe Photoshop » Photo Effects » July 26, 2008
Source pshero »

Lets get this party started with a visit to iStockPhoto where I found a cool looking stock image of an old medium format film border. There are tons of these available for free as well if you’re willing to put in the time to search. Incase you want to replicate this exact effect you can enter the product id (1249016) into the iStockPhoto search field. The nature of my contract with iStockPhoto doesn’t allow me to give away the original but if you know where to look, I may have "accidentally" left the associated Alpha Channel in the download at the end of the lesson.

Turn Your Image into Statue

How I turned Kate Moss into a statue. Let's Rock. Sorry, bad pun. In order to make my statue, you need two things: a good source pic and a good pic of marble (or any other stone). I thought the pic of Kate Moss was a good one, and I was able to find the marble I needed. This is the way I do things. The amazing thing about Photoshop is that there are many different ways to achieve the same results. Let's get started .

Turning an ordinary digital photo into something vibrant and fanciful may be easier than you think. If you don't have any photos of your own, DeviantArt provides a great place to find free stock photos to use. We'll be using a great scene from Chonastock. Here we have a costumed model posed in a dark, rocky setting. Lets see how we can improve on it, with some quick adjustments in photoshop, to create a movie-poster-like picture.

Create Your Own Planets

Adobe Photoshop » Photo Effects » July 25, 2008
Source dirkpaessler »

To make a long story short: The “Polar Panorama Effect” is one of my favourite ways to process photos into unique pieces of art. It takes a panoramic (or at least a landscape-ish) photo and uses the Polar Coordinates filter of Photoshop or The Gimp to create a circular image that seems to wrap the panorama around a planet.

Create Amazing Photomontages

Nik Ainley shows you how to make a splash, blending two very different images to create this amazing underwater effect, complete with a dissolving figure of a man. This is a great technique for pieces where you want the clothes, not the face, to take centre-stage – for example, it makes an eye-catching fashion shoot. Of course, the beauty of photomontage is that anything is possible – it all depends on your found images and how far your imagination will roam.
